Twitter sent additional data to Elon Musk on the social network’s transparency. According to Business Insider sources, Elon Musk’s lawyer tweeted last week.
The content of the message is that the data set provided by Twitter is not enough for Elon Musk to make the decision to take over Twitter.
According to the report, citing Gizchina (June 27, 2022), the transmitted data contains a record of a user’s tweets with information about the device on which the user tweeted. Elon Musk said that he was not happy with the data.
“Twitter is giving Elon Musk more user data,” Business Insider said. “Even after receiving data from the company, Elon Musk remains dissatisfied”.
The message also revealed that Musk’s lawyer had sent another message to Twitter claiming that the data provided was insufficient, based on insider information.
In response, Twitter this week agreed to provide Elon Musk with additional information, including real-time API data. There are also data streams from Tweets and other platform activities. Generally, this data is intended for a specific developer.
When Elon Musk took over Twitter, Elon Musk disputed Twitter’s estimate that fake accounts make up only about 5% of daily active users. Elon Musk insists you should check out the fake Twitter account issue yourself.
Meanwhile, this week’s Twitter board meeting approved the sale of Twitter to Elon Musk and asked shareholders to support the decision.
The deal will be approved in late July or early August, as previously planned.
Elon Musk has revealed why the Twitter acquisition, which he announced at the end of April, is not yet complete. As is known, the CEOs of Tesla and SpaceX have announced their intention to acquire Twitter for $44 billion (approximately IDR 651 billion).
Two months have passed, and the process of acquiring the microblogging platform has not yet been completed due to various obstacles. Elon Musk himself has revealed that he will delay the purchase to some extent until he cancels his purchase on Twitter for various reasons.
During a recent Bloomberg session, Elon admitted that Twitter has a lot of issues or problems that need to be resolved before it can be bought. These problems include:
Fake accounts or bots
Elon has repeatedly expressed concern about the number of fake accounts and bots on Twitter. The manipulation of social media platforms with fake accounts and bots is nothing new.
However, Elon wants Twitter to provide more detailed information about its actual number of users. Previously, Twitter claimed that the number of fake accounts and bots on the platform was less than 5% of daily active users.
From his own experience as a Twitter user, Elon Musk doubts the figures presented by Twitter.
“We are still waiting for a resolution to this very important issue on Twitter,” he said.
Another reason has to do with how much debt Elon Musk needs to buy Twitter.
By May 2022, Elon has pledged $33.5 billion in cash. He has also received equity funding commitments from Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and cryptocurrency firm Binance.
The two are said to be willing to put up $7.1 billion in funding. The rest of the money will come in the form of a bank loan, Elon said.
Despite being the richest man in the world, most of Elon Musk’s fortune is tied to Tesla stock.
He sold billions of Tesla shares and pledged collateral for the loan.
The final hurdle for Musk to complete the acquisition is approval from Twitter shareholders.
Investors are expected to vote on the transaction in late July or early August.
“Will the debt portion be honored? Will shareholders vote then?” Elon Musk said on Tuesday.
It’s unclear whether Musk will receive enough support for his purchase.
Last month, several Twitter contributors sued Musk and the company itself for disorderly handling of the process.
